With more Meaning

In 2018, my wife was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. We purchased a home to escape the over-stimulation of downtown SF. The very first time Grace saw (what was to become) our new living room, she excitedly exclaimed “this wall should be a bookshelf with one of those rolling ladders like in Beauty and the Beast!” As she started home hospice, I felt a strong force pushing me to transform the space into something that captured Grace into our home. The week after her death I spent sawing, routing, and screwing pine boards and cedar columns to create something I knew she would have loved.

Raya is a brand new baby girl coming to live in Mill Valley. To help ease the transition, I built a full ADU (accessory dwelling unit) for Raya and her parents. This is a soup-to-nuts buildout with bathroom, kitchenette, walk in closet, custom made built-in bed platform with storage, and a glass solarium perched out overlooking the trees.

With their first child on the way, friends were in need of a new laundry room. Together, we transformed a small, dark space into a bright, modern colorful diaper cleaning temple.

Using minimalist design with a touch of classic Buddhist elements, I created this space for a daily meditation practice. A variety of sitting options are available, along with a bell, prayer cards, and a custom incense holder.

Transformed the original 80s primary bathroom into a combined open bathroom and closet. Built around two custom cherry pocket doors with glass panels, this suite was transformed into a soaking tub with picturesque views and a steam room oasis. Old carpet was replaced with porcelain black floor tile. Turquoise wall tiles create a unique complimentary palette to the greenery outside.

Transformed an old bedroom into something spacious, modern, and soulful. Replaced carpet with cherry hardwood flooring, bi-fold closet system with custom wall cabinet system, deep green paint, new windows and trim, and a custom moss wall.
